The Short Loop
Imagine a runner lacing up shoes while an old dog waits beside the door, leash in its mouth. Once, they ran miles together. Today, the dog makes it only to the corner. The runner slows down. They sniff around a tree, head home, and sit together on the steps.
The Scout Law point Loyal means being true to those who count on us, even when being together looks different than it used to. The runner can run later. This little walk belongs to an old companion. Family members, friends, Scout leaders, our school, and our nation need that steady care, too. Loyalty asks us to notice what is needed now, not just repeat what we have always done.
This week, think of someone whose needs or routine have changed. Ask what would help you stay connected. Then make time for one thing you can still enjoy together.
