The Jar on the Shelf
A Scout wanted to go to a high adventure base. The trip cost more than the family could easily spend. So the Scout put a jar on a shelf and started dropping in money from mowing lawns, pet sitting, and birthday cards. Two years later, the jar was heavy, and the Scout paid for the trip with money earned the hard way.
A Scout is Thrifty. Thrift means planning ahead, saving for what matters, and not wasting money on things that don't. It gives you the freedom to say yes to the big adventures in life, because you prepared for them.
This week, set a savings goal. Pick something worth working toward and decide how much you can put away each week. Find your own jar. Then drop in the first coin.
