More Than Muddy Boots
Picture an adult hiker coming home with mud caked on a pair of boots. The couch looks good. But first, the hiker brushes off the dirt and sets the boots out to dry. Those boots were bought with money earned by stacking firewood. They deserve more than a wet heap.
The Scout Law point Thrifty is about seeing the work behind the things we own. A pair of boots is not just leather and laces. It represents effort, choices, and money that could have gone somewhere else. Being thrifty means doing your share to pay your way, saving for what matters, and caring for what you already have. Small habits help that effort last.
This week, choose one thing you use often. Clean it, check it, and put it away properly. Then plan one small job whose earnings you can save toward your next Scouting expense.
