The Empty Seat
On the first day at a new school, a kid walked into the lunchroom holding a tray and not knowing a single person. Every table seemed full. Then one Cub Scout scooted over and waved. "You can sit here." That was it. Just four words. Years later, those two were still best friends.
Being Helpful doesn't always mean fixing something or carrying something heavy. Sometimes it just means noticing. When we pay attention to people who feel left out, we can help in ways that matter more than we will ever know.
This week, look for someone who is sitting alone or standing on the edge of the group. Invite them in. Say hi, learn their name, and ask them to join your game. Four small words can change someone's whole day.
