B-P's Vision Today
In 1907, Robert Baden-Powell saw young people with nothing to do and no direction. Today you might spend hours scrolling or gaming, but he would recognize the same thing: young people with incredible potential who need the right outlet for it.
Baden-Powell did not lecture his generation about what was wrong with it. He built something better: a movement that asked young people to be trustworthy when others expected the worst, to help others in a world focused on self, and to find adventure in real experiences. His ideas are not outdated. When online arguments fill the news, Scouting teaches respectful conversation. When people hide in digital bubbles, Scouting puts you face to face with teammates. When everything feels instant, Scouting teaches patience and the reward of earning something. The Scout Law still fits, just with hiking boots and smartphones instead of wool shorts and telegrams.
This week, trade one hour of screen time for something real: a hike, a skill, or a Good Turn.
