A Fresh Start
Scouts, as you head back to school, think about this. You are walking into your classrooms with a clean slate. New teachers, new subjects, maybe new friends. It is like standing at a trailhead with a map in your hand and a full day of hiking ahead.
Our motto is Be Prepared, and that means the right attitude, not just the right gear. In your Scout Oath you promised to help other people at all times and to keep yourself mentally awake. School will have tough climbs: hard tests, big projects, moments that test your character. Just like on a campout, the view from the summit makes the work worth it. Be trustworthy with group projects. Be helpful to classmates who are struggling. Be courteous to teachers, even on your worst days. Every expert was once a beginner.
This week, pick one point of the Scout Law and live it on purpose in one class. Next meeting, be ready to tell us how it went.
