Washers on the Floor
Imagine a hardware store counter. A clerk reaches for a small box of washers and bumps it. Washers scatter across the floor like silver cereal. The adult customer checks the clock, then relaxes his shoulders and gives the clerk room to collect them. Suddenly, the mistake feels manageable instead of miserable.
The Scout Law point Courteous means being polite to everyone, especially when things are not going your way. Manners are more than knowing which words to use. Your sigh, your expression, and your tone can make someone feel small or give them breathing room. You can still ask for what you need. Just remember that the person helping you deserves patience, not pressure.
This week, when a delay tests your patience, relax your shoulders before you speak. Use a calm voice and one kind sentence. Make an inconvenient moment easier for the person on the other side.
