The Wallpaper Duck

Picture an adult peeling old wallpaper from a hallway. One strip comes off no bigger than a postage stamp. The next looks like a duck. Instead of groaning, the worker sticks that scrap on the trash bag like a badge. Then comes another small strip, and another patch of clean wall.

The Scout Law point Cheerful asks us to look for the bright side and do tasks with a good attitude. That does not mean every job is fun, or that we have to hide frustration. It means frustration does not have to run the whole job. We can notice a little humor, see the progress, and keep our words kind. The wallpaper still needs peeling. Our attitude is ours to choose.

This week, pick one chore you usually grumble about. Before you begin, name something good that will come from it. Then finish the job with kind words instead of complaints.
