The Trail Ahead

Scouts, every hike teaches us the same lesson: you cannot see the summit from the trailhead. When we start out, the path looks long, maybe impossible. Our packs feel heavy, our legs are cold, and that mountain isn't going anywhere.

But experienced hikers know you don't climb a mountain all at once. You climb it one step at a time. You focus on the next blaze, the next switchback, the next rest stop. And step by step, you look back and realize how far you have come. Life works the same way. That Eagle project, that tough class, that goal that seems impossibly far off, is just a hike. A Scout is brave and cheerful, and that means putting one foot in front of the other even when you are tired. Keep moving forward. Trust the trail. The best views come after the hardest climbs.

This week, break one big goal into small steps and finish the first one before our next meeting. Trail's waiting, Scouts. Let's go.
