The Squeaky Soundtrack

Picture an adult pushing a grocery cart with one squeaky wheel. Every turn brings another squeak. At first, shoulders tighten. Then the shopper notices a rhythm and starts humming softly along. The cart still squeaks. The groceries still need buying. But now the chore has a soundtrack.

The Scout Law point Cheerful asks us to look for the bright side and bring a good attitude to our tasks. That does not mean every job is fun, or that we must hide a hard feeling. It means we can choose what we add to the moment. A little humor can make an ordinary chore lighter. Complaining about the squeak would not fill the cart any faster. Humming helps the shopper keep going.

This week, pick one chore you usually grumble about. Add a tune, a playful rhythm, or a friendly smile while you do it. Finish the job, and notice whether your attitude helped.
