The Scout Motto: Be Prepared
Scouts, you all know our motto: Be Prepared. But what does it really mean? It is not just having the right gear for a campout or tying the perfect knot. It is being ready for whatever life throws at you, big or small.
Being prepared means stepping up when someone needs help, making tough decisions, and facing surprises without panic. It means training your mind and body so that when the moment comes, you do not have to get ready, because you already are ready. Prepared to lead. Prepared to serve. Prepared to do the right thing. Baden-Powell was once asked, prepared for what? He answered, for any old thing. That includes a sprained ankle on the trail, a friend having a hard day, or a choice nobody else will see you make. In the Scout Oath you promise to keep yourself strong and awake for exactly those moments.
This week, check one thing you would need in an emergency, like your first aid kit or a family plan, and fix what is missing.
