The Practice Audience

Imagine a kitchen table with a saltshaker, a stack of papers, and a very nervous adult preparing for a job interview. A friend comes over to practice asking questions. The first answer gets tangled. They try again. This time, the words come a little easier.

The Scout Law point Helpful means caring about others and doing good turns without expecting a reward. Sometimes we picture help as lifting something heavy or fixing something broken. But someone may need a practice audience. We can offer a little time so another person does not have to face a hard thing alone. The goal is their next try, not our own applause.

This week, ask someone at home whether they have something they would like to practice. Offer ten minutes to listen, quiz them, or be their audience. Let them choose what helps. Give your time, and let their progress be enough.
