The Mug That Stayed Home

Picture a shiny camp mug in a store window. It has a folding handle and a mountain painted on its side. You reach for your money. Then you remember the scratched mug drying beside your sink. It held hot chocolate just fine last weekend. You leave the shiny one behind.

The Scout Law says a Scout is Thrifty. That means more than finding a low price. It means knowing what is enough. Work takes effort, so the money you earn deserves a plan. Save some toward something that matters. Take care of the things already serving you. A scratched mug can still have plenty of campouts left. Keeping it useful respects both your work and the resources used to make it.

This week, choose one thing you own, clean it, and put it away properly. Then pick one expense you can help cover with money you earn.
