The Honest Score
At a pinewood derby, a Cub Scout's car crossed the line a hair behind another car. The judge looked away for a second and asked, "Who won that one?" The Cub Scout could have shouted, "Me!" Nobody would have known. Instead, the Cub Scout pointed to the other car and said, "That one did."
That is what Trustworthy looks like. It means telling the truth even when a fib would help you win. A trophy sits on a shelf. Being known as someone who tells the truth goes with you everywhere, for the rest of your life.
This week, when you play a game at recess or at home, keep an honest score. Call your own fouls. If you are not sure who won, say so. Then see how good it feels to win the right way, or lose the right way.
