The Green Snail

Picture a gardener putting away a long green hose. It twists around a boot. It catches on a rock. What a pesky job! Then the gardener starts making a neat, flat coil. With each loop, it grows into something funny: a giant green snail, curled up beside the garden.

The Scout Law asks us to be Cheerful. That means looking for the bright side and bringing a good attitude to what we do. The hose did not get shorter. The job still needed doing. But a little fun made it feel less heavy. You do not have to smile every second. You can feel tired or upset and still choose a kind word or a willing start.

This week, pick one small job you usually grumble about. Find a fun shape, hum a tune, or think about how the job helps someone. Then give it a cheerful try.
