Finding Your Path: The Compass of Character

Good evening, Scouts. In the wilderness, a compass points reliably to north even when we feel completely lost. In orienteering we learn to trust our tools and read the land. In life, our values do the same job for us when decisions get hard.

I have watched you during orienteering. Some of you rush ahead and get lost. Others stop, check their bearing, and then move on with confidence. Both teach lessons. Even expert navigators get turned around sometimes. What matters is not that you never lose your way, but that you have the tools and the character to find your path again. The Scout Oath and Law are your inner compass. Trustworthy, helpful, brave, and the rest point you in the right direction every time. When the path ahead is unclear, check that compass before you rush forward.

This week, when you face a tough choice, stop and ask which point of the Scout Law should guide you, then follow that bearing. Travel well, Scouts.
