The Cart Across the Aisle

Imagine a shopper hunting for one tiny jar of cinnamon. They park their cart sideways and scan the shelves. Another shopper arrives and asks to get past. The first shopper could sigh and move an inch. Instead, they smile, turn the cart, and apologize for blocking the way.

The Scout Law point Courteous is about that small choice. Good manners are more than knowing which words to use. They mean treating another person's needs as real, even when we are busy with our own. We can be polite to everyone, not just people who can do something for us. A simple, friendly response keeps a small inconvenience from becoming a struggle.

This week, when someone asks you to make room, wait your turn, or lower your voice, notice your first reaction. Then answer kindly and make the adjustment. Let your manners make someone else's day a little easier.
