The Call at Noon

Imagine a mechanic who promises a customer an update by noon. At eleven fifty, the bike is still in pieces. A stubborn bolt has slowed everything down. The mechanic cannot deliver a finished repair yet. But at noon, the phone rings anyway. The update is honest, even though the news is disappointing.

The Scout Law point Trustworthy means telling the truth and keeping promises. It does not mean making every problem disappear. It means people do not have to chase you for the real story. On a crew or ship, your word helps others make plans. When something changes, speak up early. Explain what happened and what you can actually do next. Silence leaves everyone guessing.

This week, choose one commitment someone is counting on. Write down what you will do and when. Follow through, and if trouble comes, give an honest update before they have to ask.
