Sparks Beyond the Circle

Picture a neighborhood cookout. A gust sends sparks from the fire pit into dry grass. One adult reaches for another log. Another feels a knot in her stomach. Everyone is enjoying the fire. Still, she asks them to stop adding wood and put it out.

The Scout Law point Brave means facing danger and standing up for what is right even when afraid. Sometimes the scary part is not the fire. It is being the person who interrupts the fun. That adult does not need to sound fearless. She needs to speak clearly. Bravery is not showing how much risk you can take. It can mean helping everyone take less.

This week, if something feels unsafe, speak up and get a trusted adult. You do not have to handle danger yourself. Practice one calm sentence now so it is easier to say when your stomach ties a knot.
