Simon Says, For Real
Remember playing Simon Says? The trick is listening carefully before you move. One den leader turned it into a real lesson. At a campout, she said, "Simon says stay behind the rope near the campfire." Every Cub Scout stayed back. Then she said, "That one wasn't a game. That one keeps you safe."
A Scout is Obedient. That means listening to your parents, teachers, and leaders, and doing what they ask the first time. When grown-ups give directions, it's usually because they can see something you can't see yet. Good listening keeps the whole den safe and lets everyone have more fun.
This week, try to follow directions the very first time you hear them. No "in a minute" and no "but why." Count how many times you do it. Bring your number to the next meeting and tell us how it went.
