Fancy Fringe

Picture a cook on a porch with a whole bag of corn to husk. After the first few ears, corn silk clings to every finger. Then the cook notices a sleeve covered in silk, like fancy fringe. A small laugh, a shake of the arm, and back to work.

The Scout Law asks us to be Cheerful. That does not mean every chore is fun, or that we must hide a bad day. It means we can look for something good while doing what needs doing. The corn still needs husking. But now the cook is thinking about the meal ahead instead of only the sticky fingers. A good attitude does not remove the work. It changes how we carry it.

This week, pick one chore you usually grumble about. Before you start, name something good it will make possible. Then do it without passing the grumbles along.
