Clean Plate, Full Heart

At summer camp, the dining hall weighed the food scraps left after every meal. The first night, the scale showed a huge pile. The camp director put the number on a whiteboard and challenged everyone to cut it in half. By the end of the week, campers took smaller portions, went back for seconds only when hungry, and the pile shrank to almost nothing.

Being Thrifty includes not wasting food, water, or energy. When we waste, someone somewhere pays the cost. A Scout is Thrifty because resources matter, and because taking only what we need leaves more for everyone else.

This week, take only what you will eat at every meal. Turn off lights when you leave a room. Keep the shower short. Small habits like these add up to a big difference over a lifetime.
