Before the Match

Picture a neighborhood picnic. An adult volunteer is about to light the grill beneath some low branches. Another volunteer notices. The food is late. Everyone is waiting. Her stomach tightens, but she asks the crew to stop and move the grill into the open.

The Scout Law point Brave is not about pretending that nothing scares us. It is about doing what is right while fear is still there. That volunteer risks a few groans to protect the whole gathering. She does not need a loud voice or a speech. She needs one clear concern and the nerve to say it. Sometimes courage means slowing everyone down. A pause can be a gift when the rush is carrying people toward trouble.

This week, if something seems unsafe, resist the urge to stay quiet. Tell a trusted adult what you noticed, and ask for a pause before anyone goes ahead.
