A Gentle Brush

Picture a grown-up brushing a dog after a walk. The brush catches on a knot of fur. One hard tug would hurt. So the grown-up stops, holds the fur gently, and works on one tiny bit at a time. The dog stays close.

The Scout Law says a Scout is Kind. That means treating others as you want to be treated, including animals. We all have times when something feels hard. Maybe a game is new. Maybe a word is tough to read. Kindness means we do not tug with mean words or rush someone along. We give them care, time, and a chance to try.

This week, find one chance to be gentle. Let someone learn without rushing them, or ask an adult to help you care for a pet. Give them the care you would want.
