The Wrong Sandwich
Imagine a crowded sandwich shop at lunchtime. An adult customer unwraps lunch and finds the wrong sandwich. Behind the counter, the worker is juggling orders. The customer takes a breath, explains the mix-up calmly, and asks for help. The sandwich still needs fixing. Nobody needs humiliating.
The Scout Law point Courteous means being polite to everyone, not just people who get everything right. Good manners make it easier to get along, especially when something goes wrong. You can point out a problem without making someone feel small. A calm voice and a respectful request leave room for a solution. Courtesy does not mean accepting every mistake. It means remembering there is a person on the other side.
This week, when a small mistake frustrates you, pause before you speak. Describe what needs fixing, not what is wrong with the person. Then ask for help in a calm voice.
