The Quiet Minute
At the end of a busy den meeting, the leader turned off the lights and turned on a small lantern. "Let's be quiet for one whole minute," she said. At first there were giggles. Then it got still. You could hear the wind outside and the hum of the lantern. When the minute ended, one Cub Scout whispered, "Can we do that again?"
A Scout is Reverent. Being reverent means taking time to be still, to be thankful, and to remember that the world is full of wonder. Quiet helps us listen to our hearts and think about what really matters.
This week, take one quiet minute every day. Sit still, close your eyes, and think about something you are thankful for. You might say a prayer, or just say thank you in your own way.
